New Delhi, June 6  the Delhi High Court Tuesday issued notice to Uttar Pradesh Government plea filed by Janata Party President Subramanian Swamy seeks probe into alleged role now, Finance Minister p. Chidambaram in 1987 year Hashimpura massacre in Meerut.


Justice Hema Kohli begging response from Uttar Pradesh through the Chief Secretary within four weeks and posted the matter for November 19.


Swami moved to the High Court, challenging the March 8 an order of the Court of first instance, which dismissed the petition against Chidambaram, who was Minister of State for internal security in 1986-89.


"It was passed (in) Parliament, Chidambaram, the situation was calm 19-22 of may, 1987. However, the judge States there was violence (and) riots. Therefore, even at this late stage, it is important to investigate the matter, "the plea said.


According to Chidambaram visited Hashimpura in Meerut district shortly before the incident, in which about 40 Muslims were killed by provincial constables (PAC).


The incident occurred after a curfew was clamped to search for illegal weapons in the area. Sixteen PAC staff face court for allegedly killing Muslims.


It was alleged that during the early morning of May 22, 1987, several truckloads of Uttar Pradesh Pac Hashimpura arrived.


Parliament was told April 26, 1988 year of Chidambaram and Vir Bahadur Singh (then Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister) conducting aerial surveys, and other Malliana Hashimpura riot affected districts of Meerut May 18, 1987, four days before the alleged murder, Swami told the Court of first instance.


In March, the Court rejected a plea for further probe the Swami to Chidambaram in the role during the incident, stating that only the police can move such an application.


Chargesheet in the case was filed before Chief Judge in ghaziabad in 1996 year against PAC 19 personnel.


The Supreme Court transferred the case to Delhi in September 2002 a year after the petition of the families of the victims and the survivors of the massacre.


The sessions Court here in July 2006 year framed charges of murder, attempted murder, tampering with evidence and conspiracy against the accused. Three accused PAC officers died during the trial.
